One of the tasks that administrators have to perform on a regular basis is the backup of a SharePoint site. One of the tasks that administrators hope that they never have to do in 'real life' is the restoration of a SharePoint site!

Most SharePoint administrators feel that you 'practice' restoring SharePoint sites to dummy servers so that, in the event a disaster occurs, you know that (1) your backups are restorable, and (2) you feel comfortable going through the process of the restore even in the heat of the disaster.
